Warm greetings from Bali the island of the Gods!

What a pleasure it is to present the latest edition of our online newsletter. Although the volcanic ash cloud disrupted many travel plans for our Australian friends, things are almost back to normal ready as we wind down to the end of the year. So read on to find out what is happening at Amadea Resort & Villas this December in the colourful lifestyle district of Seminyak - Bali.

The festive season is almost upon us and the island is about to get busy. Bali is a Hindu enclave, but the tourism industry ensures that all major international occasions are celebrated. This year you can expect to see some unique decorations with a tropical twist. As always, our own engineering team has planned yet another creative Christmas decor and all will be unveiled very soon.

In this edition, we share details about some of the non-traditional activities that you can enjoy in Bali over the holidays. There’s a great package that includes a free massage treatment if you book to come and stay with us in the next few weeks. We also take a look at the Devdan Show for a dazzling introduction to Indonesian culture. Lastly, we mark the fourth anniversary of a corporate initiative that drives our brand and the gracious hospitality that makes you want to return to our property.

Happy reading and see you soon in Bali.

Island Inspired Christmas Activities

The best part about spending the festive season on the island of Bali with family and friends is that you are not bound by tradition. There are no rules or regulations and you are free to do exactly as you please. As Bali is a predominantly Hindu enclave, most tourism related ventures remain open on Christmas Day. You can do anything from indulging in a relaxing spa treatment to navigating the white water rapids of the Ayung River or cycling through Bali's rural villages.

One of the more culturally inspiring activities that you can enjoy as a family on Christmas Day is partaking in a purification ritual in the holy waters of Tirta Empul Temple at Tampaksiring. This spiritually-charged location features a bathing pond fed by a series of fountains where the Balinese come to cleanse body, mind and spirit. An excursion to this site can be combined with lunch in a rice terrace setting at Bebek Tepi Sawah, a popular Ubud restaurant specializing in crispy fried duck.

Another great pastime is a Balinese cooking class where you will learn the secrets of local cuisine and get to take home news skills including how to prepare authentic nasi goreng. Alternatively, you might like to escape the heat and head to the cool hills of Bedugul where Bali Treetop Adventure Park has a series of zipline circuits and promises hours of family fun. Whatever you choose to do on Christmas Day, don’t forget to check in with our Guest Service Assistant to help you create the perfect holiday itinerary.

PRIME Culture

At Amadea Resort & Villas, we recently celebrated the fourth anniversary of PRIME, the work culture that applies to all properties under the Prime Plaza Hotels & Resorts banner. PRIME stands for People Responsible Individually for Managing Excellence. It essentially gives our staff member a clear understanding about their role in the company and the expectations placed upon them. PRIME helps even the lowest ranked members of our team to achieve and play an active role in delighting guests.

The anniversary was marked by a series of training sessions and competitions to foster team spirit within the resort. “I have worked for other hotels before joining Amadea but I have never been exposed to this kind of corporate culture. PRIME has provided me with the necessary tools and guidance to follow daily operational standards. I feel empowered in knowing that the company is behind me and this drives me to do my best at all times,” says Chrivan, Guest Service Assistant.
