The month of March will be highlighted by Nyepi Day, when the entire island is shrouded in silence for what is considered to be one of the most important events on Bali’s cultural calendar. For the Balinese, it is time for personal reflection and thinking about the year ahead. Visitors are obliged to stay inside the confines of their hotel but they are still able to swim, relax and soak up the sun whilst keeping noise to a minimum.
In this edition, we are delighted to share information that Amadea Cares Anniversary, our Corporate Social Responsibility program, has funded sixteen surgeries for children in need. This would not have been possible without the generosity of guests and our team who donate a percentage of their monthly salary to this worthy cause.

A Day of Silence
All forms of activity will come to a complete standstill on 28th March 2017 as the island of Bali celebrates Nyepi Day with 24 hours of solitude. This auspicious day on the cultural calendar is actually Balinese New Year, which falls annually following the dark moon of the spring equinox. Nyepi is also known as the Day of Silence and it is a time for quiet contemplation. Typically, Balinese Hindu’s refrain from going out, cooking and turning on lights until the day passes. Out of respect for this spiritually-charged occasion, all visitors to the island must stay in the confines of their hotel and keep all noise to a minimum.
Service on Nyepi Day at Amadea Resort & Villas will more or less remain the same. Guests will still be able to relax and enjoy quality time around the pool. However, there will be some minor adjustments in the way that our food and beverages are served. Nyepi presents the perfect opportunity to think about what truly matters in life. Without lights, the night sky will be illuminated by twinkling stars and we recommend taking a few minutes to appreciate the beauty of our universe.

Amadea Cares Celebrates 5th Anniversary
Amadea Cares, our very own Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, proudly celebrated its 5th anniversary on Valentine's Day. Over the past year, the project has actively raised funds to help those less fortunate within the community. As a result Amadea Cares has been able to finance sixteen craniofacial surgeries in partnership with the Bali Smile Foundation.
Amadea Cares chose Valentine’s Day for its launch date back in 2012 as it is a time synonymous with love and commitment. The project is essentially about providing a brighter future for those in need by literally putting a smile back on young faces. Other recent activities have included a visit to a local orphanage over the festive season to play with little ones and distribute goods.
Amadea Cares relies on several funding avenues to keep it operational. Firstly, the resort pledges CSR funding to this worthy cause. Additionally, our staff members personally contribute from their respective salaries. In-house guests are also invited to participate by donating just Rp.5.000 per guest during their stay, which incidentally is less than the price of a single soft drink. Lastly, a collection box is located at the Front Desk whereby visitors are free to lighten their wallets of any loose change.
Many thanks go out to all of our guests who have generously contributed to Amadea Cares over the past year and we hope to continue this project well into the future. It is important to remember that - missing out on one drink today could make someone smile forever!

This spectacular performance will take you on a colourful journey across the archipelago in the comfort of an air-conditioned theatre.
