Traditional Balinese Carving

Many Balinese are talented artisans and there are entire villages dedicated to wood and stone carving. Mythical creatures, religious statues, wall panels and garden ornaments carved out of natural stone literally line the road from Batubulan to Ubud. This ancient craft has evolved from being used to decorate Balinese palaces and temples to a flourishing export industry.  

Traditional wood carving is concentrated around the village of Mas on the outskirts of Ubud as well as Batubulan, near Denpasar. Master carvers have their own galleries where visitors are welcome. Items for sale are not generally priced so be prepared to bargain for any unique piece that catches your eye. Packing and shipping for larger stone and wood carvings is available upon purchase.

Amadea Staff Gathering

Amadea hosted an end of year gathering for all staff members recently in its Villa Saraswati. This social occasion was an opportunity to reinforce team spirit and celebrate staff birthdays that occurred during the months of November and December.

General Manager, Mr. Wayan Warta, made a brief speech to express his appreciation of the team for their outstanding contribution during the first few months of operations. Despite overcoming several challenges during the soft opening period, Amadea is now recognized as a ‘value for money’ property in the stylish Seminyak district. Guests not only enjoy the location, which is central for shopping and dining, by they also appreciate the genuine hospitality that it delivered during each and every stay.

Out of the Box Leadership Training

All of Amadea’s Department Heads recently attended a two day leadership training programme entitled ‘Out of The Box’. There were two consecutive sessions hosted by sister properties Bali Dynasty Resort (www.balidynasty.com) and Sanur Paradise Plaza Hotel (www.sanurparadise.com).
The aim of this initiative was to equip managers with the inter-personal skills that are required to treat team members and guests with the highest level of respect.
