Bali's Cultural Calendar Nyepi Day, Balinese Lunar New Year

All forms of activity will come to a complete stand still on 03rd March 2022 as the island of Bali celebrates Nyepi Day with 24 hours of solitude. This auspicious day on the cultural calendar is actually Balinese New Year, which falls annually following the dark moon of the spring equinox. Nyepi is also known as the Day of Silence and it is a time for quiet contemplation. Typically, Balinese Hindu’s refrain from going out, cooking and turning on lights until the day passes. Out of respect for this spiritually-charged occasion, all visitors to the island must stay in the confines of their hotel and keep all noise to a minimum.
