Warm greetings from Bali the island of the Gods!

What a pleasure it is to present the latest edition of our online newsletter. Read on to find out what is happening at Amadea Resort & Villas in the upbeat lifestyle district of Seminyak - Bali. 

The month of March will be highlighted by Nyepi Day, when the entire island is shrouded in silence for what is considered to be one of the most important events on Bali’s cultural calendar. For the Balinese, it is time for personal reflection and thinking about the year ahead. Visitors are obliged to stay inside the confines of their hotel but they are still able to swim, relax and soak up the sun whilst keeping noise to a minimum.

In this edition, we are delighted to share information that Amadea Cares Anniversary, our Corporate Social Responsibility program. Nyepi Day, Balinese Lunar New Year

 

 

All forms of activity will come to a complete stand still on 25th March 2020 as the island of Bali celebrates Nyepi Day with 24 hours of solitude. This auspicious day on the cultural calendar is actually Balinese New Year, which falls annually following the dark moon of the spring equinox. Nyepi is also known as the Day of Silence and it is a time for quiet contemplation. Typically, Balinese Hindu’s refrain from going out, cooking and turning on lights until the day passes. Out of respect for this spiritually-charged occasion, all visitors to the island must stay in the confines of their hotel and keep all noise to a minimum. 

Service on Nyepi Day at Amadea Resort & Villas will more or less remain the same. Guests will still be able to relax and enjoy quality time around the pool. However, there will be some minor adjustments in the way that our food and beverages are served. Nyepi presents the perfect opportunity to think about what truly matters in life. Without lights, the night sky will be illuminated by twinkling stars and we recommend taking a few minutes to appreciate the beauty of our universe.

Amadea Cares 8th Anniversary

 

 

This Valentine’s Day, Amadea Resort & Villas is set to celebrate the 8th anniversary of Amadea Cares, a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative created to give back to those less fortunate. Since launching back in 2012, Amadea Cares has become a charity platform to finance worthy causes on the island of Bali and neighbouring islands beyond.

All funds are raised through a creative campaign that encourages in-house guests to get on board with a voluntary donation of just IDR 5,000 upon checking out, which is effectively the cost of a soft drink. Using the slogan “Missing Out on One Drink Today Could Make Someone Smile Forever,” Amadea Cares has managed to raise a staggering amount of money to do great things. A monthly contribution from staff salaries and a donation box for small change located in the lobby also boosts the program.  

One of the most significant components of Amadea Cares is its collaboration with Yayasan Senyum Bali, also known as the Bali Smile Foundation. This non-profit organization works tirelessly to bring essential healthcare to people in need, such as arranging corrective cranio-facial surgeries. To date, Amadea Cares has helped fund 25 life-enhancing operations on children and young adults who will grow up to become productive members of society. 

Other initiatives carried out under the Amadea Cares banner include making regular social visits to some of the various orphanages around Bali. Although these facilities provide nurturing home environments for abandoned, neglected and impoverished children, many of them are forced to rely on outside support to cover daily operational costs. Each quarter, Amadea Cares commits to presenting sizable donations of cash, household items and school supplies to make life just that little bit easier.  

“It is heartening to see that Amadea Cares has generated such a positive response. Over the past five years, this initiative has managed to transform lives and plant seeds of hope. None of these surgeries or worthy actions would have been possible without the relentless support of our management, staff members, and most importantly, our valued guests. I appreciate everyone who has donated to make Amadea Cares happen,” says Mr. Wayan Warta, General Manager of Amadea Resort & Villas. 

He adds, “It is indeed an honour to be part of a team that is focused not only on business but is also invested in issues affecting real people who exist beyond the tourism bubble. I understand that our efforts are only a drop in the ocean, but it is gratifying to know that we are in the fortunate position to help make a difference and give families the chance of a better future.”  

Amadea Cares looks forward to funding more surgeries over the coming year. In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, it is indeed a timely reminder for us all to share some love and do the right thing with small acts of kindness.

Guest Activity of the Month:

 

Elephant Safari

 

While in Bali, take time to visit Mason Elephant Park located in Taro Village, set within 4 hectares in the misty hinterlands in the north of Ubud, about one and half hour drive from Seminyak. 
The park was created in response to the devastating situation in Sumatra where rampant deforestation and poaching has dwindled the native elephant population. This multi-award winning park is Bali’s only dedicated elephant rescue facility, and is home to 31 critically-endangered Sumatran elephants, 4 of which were born there. The park provides guests with the rare opportunity to interact and learn about these gentle giants while giving the healthy herd a comfortable and safe environment to call home.

Garden Cinema in March

 

Amadea's guests staying in March will be able to enjoy an in-house Garden Cinema with movies screened in a relaxing setting under the stars around the swimming pool area. Held twice in a week this month garden cinema will screen Gemini Man, Behind Enemy Lines, The Last Samurai. 
Available every Tuesday and Friday starts 8pm with limited seat and subject to weather condition. What a great opportunity to enjoy Bali outdoor living with your loved one or great evening to make new friends.
