Warm greetings from Bali the island of the Gods!

We are delighted to present the latest edition of our newsletter. This monthly online initiative is intended to keep you all up-to-date with everything that is happening at our property in the lifestyle district of Seminyak.

Following an almost non-existent wet season, Bali is certainly hotter than ever before. Therefore, it is important for all of us to be mindful about water consumption. Amadea recently passed the benchmark set by EarthCheck.org and water usage at the property was just one of many eco-friendly practices included in the whole evaluation process.

In other news, we also achieved Four Star Hotel Status as per a new reclassification system set by the Indonesian government. A comprehensive assessment was carried out by an independent auditor and we complied with the predetermined criteria. Our fifth anniversary is coming up where we will be rewarding the loyalty of you our readers, so stay tuned for further details. Lastly, we take a look at the neighbouring island of Lombok, which is another fascinating part of the Indonesian archipelago just waiting to be experienced.

Happy reading and see you soon in Bali.

Amadea Achieves Four Star Status

Following a new government regulation, all existing hotels in Bali and beyond are currently being reclassified. Amadea Resort & Villas was recently audited during a comprehensive two-day assessment conducted by Sucofindo, an independent auditing company appointed by the Ministry of Tourism. This whole procedure resulted in the property officially achieving Four Star Status.

“We are delighted to be acknowledged as a Four Star Hotel, which will only strengthen our positioning in the global marketplace. We will continue our endeavour to anticipate the latest in hotel innovation and take care of our guests’ needs to ensure that every stay is a memorable experience. Our dynamic team and the hospitality that they deliver certainly contributed to us accomplishing this status,” comments Ms. Resti Kaningsih, Sales Manager Amadea Resort & Villas.

Eco Awareness

Earth Day on 22nd April 2016 once again raised awareness around the world about environmental sustainability and the importance of embracing green initiatives. At Amadea Resort & Villas, this annual event prompted us to evaluate our own actions and reinforce our commitment to be as eco-friendly as possible. Fortunately, we recently passed the benchmark audit from EarthCheck.org and received another badge for our ongoing efforts.

We currently have many measures in place to minimize our impact on the surrounding environment including initiatives to save energy, reduce water usage and effectively manage waste. By changing all light bulbs to LED and relying on natural sunlight wherever possible, we have been able to significantly reduce our daily electricity needs. Water consumption at the property is also carefully monitored and we are well below the standards set by EarthCheck organization. Guests are encouraged to participate by choosing to reuse towels and bed linen. We also have a water bottle refill station to cut down on plastic.

Start Your Day with Jakarta Rice Porridge

In an effort to keep our breakfast buffet interesting, Bistro Batu Kali has introduced a traditional Indonesia dish known as Bubur Ayam Jakarta. This is a tasty rice porridge topped with spicy gravy and optional condiments such as shredded chicken, fried shallots and even chilli. Our daily international breakfast buffet has a rotating Indonesian menu and this local specialty is available once a week for an authentic local breakfast experience.

Beyond Bali: Explore Lombok & The Gilis

Bali’s nearest eastern neighbour is the charming island of Lombok, which has its own unique culture, handicrafts and sites of interest. Although not as tourist oriented as Bali, this scenic part of the Indonesian archipelago has picture-perfect beaches and traditional villages to explore. There is also Mount Rinjani, an active volcano that dominates the landscape at 3726m and lends itself to trekking activities,

The Gilis are a trio of small coral-fringed islands located off the north-west coast of Lombok. They attract fun-loving travellers looking to relax, snorkel and dive in tropical waters. Gili Trawangan is the veritable party island, while Gili Air and Gili Meno are more family friendly destinations. The absence of all motorized vehicles on The Gilis is quite refreshing. As a visitor, you can get around by renting a bicycle or a traditional horse and cart.

Lombok now has its own international airport and daily flights are available from Bali with a number of reputable airline carriers. Alternatively, fast boats leave Bali each morning from Serangan, Sanur and Padangbai for an ocean journey that takes approximately two hours. If you have time in your itinerary, it is well worth considering a combined Bali/Lombok holiday to experience a different part of Indonesia.
