This month will be highlighted by Nyepi Day, when the entire island is shrouded in silence for what is considered to be one of the most important events on Bali’s cultural calendar. For the Balinese, it is time for personal reflection and thinking about the year ahead. Visitors are obliged to stay inside the confines of their hotel but they are still able to swim, relax and soak up the sun whilst keeping noise to a minimum.

Nyepi Day, Bali in total lockdown
All forms of activity will come to a complete stand still on 29th March 2025 as the island of Bali celebrates Nyepi Day with in total lockdown 24 hours of solitude. This auspicious day on the cultural calendar is actually Balinese New Year, which falls annually following the dark moon of the spring equinox. Nyepi is also known as the Day of Silence and it is a time for quiet contemplation. Typically, Balinese Hindu’s refrain from going out, cooking and turning on lights until the day passes. Out of respect for this spiritually-charged occasion, all visitors to the island must stay in the confines of their hotel and keep all noise to a minimum.
Service on Nyepi Day at Amadea Resort & Villas will more or less remain the same. Guests will still be able to relax and enjoy quality time around the pool. However, there will be some minor adjustments in the way that our food and beverages are served. Nyepi presents the perfect opportunity to think about what truly matters in life. Without lights, the night sky will be illuminated by twinkling stars and we recommend taking a few minutes to appreciate the beauty of our universe.
Amadea Cares Renovates Elementary School Library in Tabanan: A Gift for Students' Future
In a heartwarming show of community support, Amadea Resort & Villas has helped fund the renovation of an elementary school library of SD Negeri 1 Antap, Selemadeg in Tabanan, Bali, which had been rendered unusable due to significant damage to its ceiling. With no budget from the school to address the issue, the library was unable to serve its vital purpose in enhancing students’ literacy in both scientific and non-scientific subjects.
The head of the school, Gusti Ayu Kadek Ratna Yati, S.Pd.SD expressed gratitude for Amadea Cares, the resort’s charitable initiative, which stepped in when other funding sources fell through. “While we tried to secure funding from various avenues, we struggled. Amadea Cares has made a tremendous difference. Now, we can provide our students with the proper facilities they deserve,” the head of the school shared during project hand over on January 13, 2025 at the school.
Amadea Cares funds its initiatives through a unique donation program, inviting guests of Amadea Resort & Villas to participate in its "Missing Out on One Drink Today Could Make Someone Smile Forever" campaign. Guests are encouraged to donate starting from Rp 5,000, the cost of a soft drink in Bali. This small act of kindness goes a long way, helping to fund crucial local projects like the library renovation.
In addition to supporting education, Amadea Cares is also a major sponsor for children with craniofacial disabilities through its collaboration with Yayasan Senyum Bali. Beyond that, the initiative also provides vital support to families in need, ensuring that children have the opportunity to attend school and receive an education.
Wayan Warta, General Manager of Amadea Resort & Villas, expressed his appreciation for the guests who support these initiatives. “Bali has benefited greatly from tourism, but not everyone enjoys those benefits. Through Amadea Cares, we aim to channel the positive impacts of tourism to those who need it most, bringing joy to the local community,” he said.
Thanks to the generosity of Amadea Cares and its guests, the Tabanan school now has the essential library facilities that will help nurture the minds of young learners, making a significant difference in their education and future.

Bali's Cultural Calendar : Tumpek Wariga
Bali’s cultural calendar is a continuous cycle of ceremonies and rituals conducted to maintain balance between the realms of the physical, spiritual and unseen worlds. Tumpek Wariga is just one of many auspicious days celebrated on the island and it will fall on 29th March 2025 to honour local trees, especially the humble coconut palm. This versatile palm, alongside rice and bamboo, is considered one of the main pillars to sustain Balinese society. Every single part of the coconut palm has a use including the leaves, nuts, trunk and roots. On this day, local landowners will wrap their coconut palms in lengths of cloth and perform a small ritual by praying for healthy growth and an abundance of fruit.
Guest Activity of the Month: Elephant Safari
While in Bali, take time to visit Mason Elephant Park located in Taro Village, set within 4 hectares in the misty hinterlands in the north of Ubud, about one and half hour drive from Seminyak.
The park was created in response to the devastating situation in Sumatra where rampant deforestation and poaching has dwindled the native elephant population. This multi-award winning park is Bali’s only dedicated elephant rescue facility, and is home to 31 critically-endangered Sumatran elephants, 4 of which were born there.
