February 2026 | Newsletter Connect With Us

Warm greetings from Bali the island of the Gods!

We are pleased to share the latest edition of our online newsletter, with updates from Amadea Resort & Villas in Seminyak. This month is marked by Nyepi Day (Silence Day), one of the most important days in Bali’s cultural calendar. During Nyepi, the island observes a day of silence and reflection. Guests remain within the hotel area, while still being able to relax, swim, and enjoy the facilities in a calm and respectful atmosphere.

In this edition, we also re-introduce the Red Bag charity program, highlight Tumpek Wayang in Bali’s March cultural calendar, the day of purification, which is better understood as a moment to restore balance between art, spirit, and life, reflecting how deeply storytelling and spirituality are intertwined in Balinese culture. In the section of island activities, we share a brief insight into the Elephant Safari experience.

Thank you for staying with us, and we look forward to welcoming you again in Bali.

When Bali Falls Silent: Experiencing Nyepi with Meaning in Seminyak

Once a year, for a full 24 hours, Bali pauses. Streets empty, lights dim, and the island enters a rare moment of complete stillness during Nyepi, the sacred Day of Silence observed from 06:00 to 06:00 the following day. Guided by the principles of Catur Brata Penyepian — no travel, minimal lights and fire, no work, and no entertainment — the entire island collectively embraces reflection.

Staying during Nyepi is not about restriction, but about experiencing Bali in its most reflective and culturally significant state. With proper planning, it becomes one of the most unique and meaningful times to revisit the island. Rather than limitation, many returning travelers discover a quieter, more contemplative side of Bali — one that is rarely experienced in everyday travel.

You may remember the calm moments at Amadea Resort & Villas’ poolside mornings, the gentle rhythm of Seminyak, unhurried afternoons, and the comfort of being close to everything while still feeling tucked away. During Nyepi, that familiar calm expands across the entire island, creating an atmosphere that is deeply peaceful and culturally profound.

Cultural Attraction Around Amadea Resort & Villas Seminyak Bali

In the days leading up to Nyepi, the atmosphere across Seminyak and nearby villages becomes culturally vibrant. Guests may witness the striking Ogoh-Ogoh parades, where large ceremonial effigies are carried through the streets as part of a purification ritual before the Day of Silence.

Within close distance from Amadea, you can also explore meaningful cultural surroundings such as:
Petitenget Temple — a historic sea temple rich in Balinese spiritual heritage
Seminyak Beach — ideal for a peaceful sunset walk before the quiet day begins
Local community ceremonies (Banjar activities) often taking place in the surrounding Seminyak area

Visitor Guidance During Nyepi
To ensure a smooth and respectful stay, detailed Do & Don’t guidelines will be clearly explained by the resort’s team members prior to Nyepi. Guests are kindly advised to remain within the resort area, keep lighting low at night (with curtains closed), maintain a quiet atmosphere, and prepare offline leisure activities in advance. Tours, transport, and outdoor activities will not operate during the silence period, in accordance with island-wide observance.

On property, Amadea Resort and Villas continues to support guest comfort with 24-hour Reception and Security, along with in-room dining (hours may vary and will be reconfirmed closer to the stay)

A Quiet, Meaningful Way to Give Back During Your Stay

Red Bag Program: Transforming Lives through Donation and Support

A Commitment to Community Welfare
At Amadea Resort & Villas Seminyak Bali, giving back to the local community is approached in a simple and respectful way. The Red Bag Program offers guests an easy and meaningful opportunity to support the community during their stay, without obligation or disruption to their holiday experience.

How It Works

The concept is straightforward. Guests who wish to participate may donate pre-loved items such as clothes, shoes, toys, books, or small household goods by placing them in the designated red donation bags available at the Reception Desk. These items are then carefully collected and delivered to Yayasan Senyum Bali, a non-profit foundation supporting children and adults with craniofacial conditions across Bali and Eastern Indonesia. Once received, the donated items are sorted by the foundation. Some are distributed directly to families in need, while others are sold through Smile Shops. The proceeds are reinvested into medical treatments, surgeries, therapy, and ongoing care for patients who require long-term support.

Sustaining a Cycle of Care
This initiative reflects a mindful and sustainable approach. By encouraging the reuse of pre-loved items, the program helps reduce waste while ensuring that useful belongings continue to serve a meaningful purpose, creating a quiet cycle of generosity that benefits the local community.

A Thoughtful Way to Participate
Participation is entirely voluntary and designed to be convenient. Even a small donation can create a meaningful and lasting impact for those in need within the local community and beyond.

To our valued guests who have kindly contributed to the Red Bag Program during your stay, we sincerely thank you for your generosity and support. Your thoughtful donations help sustain essential care, medical support, and community assistance through Yayasan Senyum Bali.

For those wo wish to learn more about the program or participate on a future visit, our Guest Service Assistant will be pleased to provide further information and assistance.

From Our Team in Bali: A Relaxed Sunday by the Pool

A small update from us here at Amadea — Sundays at the main pool have gradually become a relaxed gathering moment for our in-house guests. From 12 noon to 4 pm, the Poolside BBQ creates a casual afternoon atmosphere where guests can unwind between activities or simply enjoy the slower weekend pace of Seminyak.

The menu features comforting favorites such as burgers, sandwiches, chicken wings, and beef hot dogs, with highlights including beef tenderloin steak and a seafood platter of prawns, squid, and mahi mahi, served with mixed lettuce, sweet corn, and lemon butter sauce.

It is not a formal event, but rather a laid-back Sunday rhythm that many guests appreciate after a week of exploring Bali. On other days, our Pool Bar also offers daily Happy Hours from 2 pm to 4 pm, with a Buy 2 Get 1 Free selection on cocktails and Bintang beer for a relaxed afternoon by the pool.

Bali's Cultural Calendar : Tumpek Wayang - March 14th 2026

A day of spiritual cleansing and harmony, especially related to sacred arts, storytelling, and individuals considered spiritually sensitive.

There is a moment many travelers remember about Bali — the gentle sound of offerings being placed, the scent of incense in the morning air, and ceremonies quietly unfolding in neighborhood temples. Even after several visits, it becomes clear that Bali is not just a destination, but a living culture guided by a rich ceremonial calendar.

One of these meaningful days is Tumpek Wayang, it is a special day dedicated to the purification and blessing of Wayang, the traditional shadow puppets that hold deep spiritual and artistic significance in Balinese culture. Rather than being seen merely as performance objects, Wayang puppets are believed to possess character, symbolism, and sacred value. On this day, priests and puppeteers perform small rituals to cleanse and bless the puppets, seeking harmony, artistic guidance, and balance.

So, what is Wayang? In Bali, the most well-known form is Wayang kulit, a traditional shadow theatre using intricately carved leather puppets, a light source, and a screen to create moving shadows. These performances often retell Hindu epics, local folklore, and moral stories, blending philosophy, humour, and life lessons.

For visitors who have experienced Bali’s many ceremonies, Tumpek Wayang offers another quiet reminder that art, spirituality, and daily life are deeply connected on the island — not as a spectacle, but as an ongoing expression of cultural devotion and reflection.

Guest Activity Insight: Discovering Bali’s Gentle Giants in the Highlands

For guests who have already experienced Bali’s beaches and vibrant Seminyak atmosphere, the island’s northern highlands reveal a quieter and more contemplative side of Bali. One distinctive place to explore is Mason Elephant Park in Taro Village, set within the misty greenery north of Ubud, around a one-and-a-half-hour drive from Seminyak.

Established as a sanctuary for rescued Sumatran elephants, the park reflects ongoing conservation efforts in response to habitat loss and environmental challenges in Indonesia. Today, it provides a safe and structured environment where elephants are cared for while also serving as an educational space for visitors.

A visit offers more than a typical activity. It allows guests to observe the elephants’ daily routines, social behaviour, and the bond between caretakers and these gentle animals. Surrounded by lush landscape and cooler air, the setting feels calm and immersive.

For returning guests seeking a more meaningful and nature-focused experience, this offers a thoughtful glimpse into Bali’s conservation and wildlife awareness beyond the usual tourist paths.
