Maybank Bali Marathon 2016
The annual Maybank Bali Marathon will be taking place on 28th August 2016. This highly anticipated event is expected to attract international athletes competing for a generous array of prizes in the 42.195 km Full Marathon category. There will also be a 21.975 km Half Marathon, 10 km Fun Run and Children’s Sprint. Those participating in this prestigious road race will enjoy a challenging course that takes in the beauty of Bali’s tropical landscape with performances of traditional arts along the way. Visit www.balimarathon.com for further details about the island’s most exciting sporting event.
Tumpek Wariga
Bali's cultural calendar is a continuous cycle of ceremonies and rituals conducted to maintain balance between the realms of the physical, spiritual and unseen worlds. Tumpek Wariga is just one of many auspicious days celebrated on the island and it will fall on 13th August 2016 to honour local trees, especially the humble coconut palm. This versatile palm, alongside rice and bamboo, is considered one of the main pillars to sustain Balinese society. Every single part of the coconut palm has a use including the leaves, nuts, trunk and roots. On this day, local landowners will wrap their coconut palms in lengths of cloth and perform a small ritual by praying for healthy growth and an abundance of fruit.
Ayung River Whitewater Rafting
There is nothing more exhilarating than exploring the natural beauty of Bali with a whitewater rafting excursion. A number of reputable operators are available to conduct guided tours along some of the island’s most breathtaking stretches of river. It is an opportunity to escape the hectic pace of mainstream tourism and experience a side of Bali that remains untouched by the hands of time. A rafting adventure is a combination of challenging rapids and gentle paddling along a river edged by tropical terrain. All tours include transportation, international standard rafting equipment and lunch upon completion. Visit our Guest Service Assistant to make the necessary booking arrangements for a fun day out that the entire family will enjoy. Amadea Cares Visited Yasa Kerthi Orphanage
To coincide with Amadea’s fifth anniversary celebrations, a number of socially-inspired activities took place during the month of June with a special emphasis on giving back to the Balinese community. Staff members paid a visit to the Yasa Kerthi Orphanage in Karangasem to spend quality time with a group of underprivileged children. Our team organized fun games as well as an uplifting session to share personal dreams, hopes and aspirations for the future. A significant donation was also made to help with the operational costs of running this facility that provides a nurturing home environment for local youngsters in need.
Amadea Cares is the umbrella for a number of social initiatives. Click here to see all the activities.
