Island Inspired Christmas Activities
The best part about spending the festive season on the island of Bali with family and friends is that you are not bound by tradition. There are no rules or regulations and you are free to do exactly as you please. As Bali is a predominantly Hindu enclave, most tourism related ventures remain open on Christmas Day. You can do anything from indulging in a relaxing spa treatment to navigating the white water rapids of the Ayung River or cycling through Bali's rural villages.
One of the more culturally inspiring activities that you can enjoy as a family on Christmas Day is partaking in a purification ritual in the holy waters of Tirta Empul Temple at Tampaksiring. This spiritually-charged location features a bathing pond fed by a series of fountains where the Balinese come to cleanse body, mind and spirit. An excursion to this site can be combined with lunch in a rice terrace setting at Bebek Tepi Sawah, a popular Ubud restaurant specializing in crispy fried duck.
Another great pastime is a Balinese cooking class where you will learn the secrets of local cuisine and get to take home news skills including how to prepare authentic nasi goreng.
Alternatively, you might like to escape the heat and head to the cool hills of Bedugul where Bali Treetop Adventure Park has a series of zipline circuits and promises hours of family fun. Whatever you choose to do on Christmas Day, don’t forget to check in with our Guest Service Assistant to help you create the perfect holiday itinerary.

Bali's Cultural Calendar
Tumpek Kandang, A Balinese Day Dedicated to Animals
Bali’s important day coming up on Bali’s religious calendar is Tumpek Kandang on 5th December 2020. The occasion is dedicated to animals, particularly pigs, cows and livestock that are an essential source of income. Balinese farmers will carefully wash their most prized animals and conduct a small ceremony that entails a ritual blessing and specially prepared foods. This is performed with belief that prayers and offerings will result in good health and productive breeding habits.
Towel Creation That Makes You Smile
Amadea is a small but service-orientated hotel that always does its very best to stand out from the rest. Therefore, the members of the Housekeeping team have a unique way of brightening up every single day for in-house guests. After each room has been cleaned, our attendants will leave a little memento on the bed in the form of towel art. They have taken the skill of folding towels to the next level by creating a wide range of animals, flowers and even a cake for those extra special occasions. There’s even a loving pair of swans to greet honeymooners or couples celebrating their anniversary.
Guests are often amazed at what they find each day. From a dog wearing reading glasses to a cat or rabbit cuddled up on the pillow, there is no limit to the creativity. Often the Room Attendants get special requests and they have even managed to successfully make a man playing a drum as well as an angry bird. Daily towel art has become a highlight for everyone staying at Amadea and there is always an element of surprise when guests return to see what fun creation is decorating their bed.
From the News
Indonesian eVisa Launched - Nov 01, 2020
The Law and Human Rights Ministry has launched an online visa application for foreign citizens who wish to enter Indonesia. Those who intend to apply for the visa must fill in their personal information and purpose for travel on the website visa-online.imigrasi.go.id. If their application is granted, they will receive an approval letter by e-mail. Law and Human Rights Minister Yasonna Laoly said the e-visa sought to create a faster, easier and more transparent entry permit service.
“This is to bring a positive message to [other countries] that Indonesia has made bureaucratic reforms and is ready to become a destination for foreign investment,” Yasonna said in a statement on Tuesday. He added that he hoped the new policy would help the country’s economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic by creating jobs through foreign investment and international tourism.
The Regulation of Minister of Law and Human Rights Number 26 of 2020 on visas and stay permits in the new normal states that visa applications should be done online and applicants will be issued an electronic visa, or eVisa.
Visa and/or stay permit refer to an official, diplomatic, visitor, and temporary stay visas, and official stay, diplomatic stay, temporary stay, and permanent stay permits.
This also includes crew members arriving to join transport, Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Travel Cardholder, and traditional border crossing pass/cardholder. Transport operators must ensure every passenger provides a valid declaration of a negative PCR test result.
Until now, the minister has still temporarily suspended the granting of visitor visa exemptions and visa on arrival until the COVID-19 pandemic is declared over. The temporary suspension of the visitor visa exemption is imposed on foreign nationals entitled to visa exemption facilities as annexed in President Regulation Number 21 of 2016 on Visitor Visa Exemption. It means that the 30-day free stamp is not currently available, nor is the 30-day paid-for visa which can be extended one time.
