Missing Out on One Drink Today Could Make Someone Smile Forever 

This Valentine’s Day, Amadea Resort & Villas is set to celebrate the 11th anniversary of Amadea Cares, a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative created to give back to those less fortunate. Since launching back in 2012, Amadea Cares has become a charity platform to finance worthy causes on the island of Bali and neighbouring islands beyond.

All funds are raised through a creative campaign that encourages in-house guests to get on board with a voluntary donation of just IDR 5,000 upon checking out, which is effectively the cost of a soft drink. Using the slogan “Missing Out on One Drink Today Could Make Someone Smile Forever,” Amadea Cares has managed to raise a staggering amount of money to do great things. A monthly contribution from staff salaries and a donation box for small change located in the lobby also boosts the program.  

One of the most significant components of Amadea Cares is its collaboration with Yayasan Senyum Bali, also known as the Bali Smile Foundation. This non-profit organization works tirelessly to bring essential healthcare to people in need, such as arranging corrective cranio-facial surgeries. To date, Amadea Cares has helped fund 26 life-enhancing operations on children and young adults who will grow up to become productive members of society. 

Other initiatives carried out under the Amadea Cares banner include making regular social visits to some of the various orphanages around Bali. Although these facilities provide nurturing home environments for abandoned, neglected and impoverished children, many of them are forced to rely on outside support to cover daily operational costs. Each quarter, Amadea Cares commits to presenting sizable donations of cash, household items and school supplies to make life just that little bit easier.

None of these surgeries or worthy actions would have been possible without the relentless support of our management, staff members, and most importantly, our valued guests. He adds, “It is indeed an honour to be part of a team that is focused not only on business but is also invested in issues affecting real people who exist beyond the tourism bubble. I understand that our efforts are only a drop in the ocean, but it is gratifying to know that we are in the fortunate position to help make a difference and give families the chance of a better future.”

Nyepi Day, March 22, 2022: Bali In Complete Silence 

All forms of activity will come to a complete stand still on 22nd March 2023 as the island of Bali celebrates Nyepi Day with in total lockdown 24 hours of solitude. This auspicious day on the cultural calendar is actually Balinese New Year, which falls annually following the dark moon of the spring equinox. Nyepi is also known as the Day of Silence and it is a time for quiet contemplation. Typically, Balinese Hindu’s refrain from going out, cooking and turning on lights until the day passes. Out of respect for this spiritually-charged occasion, all visitors to the island must stay in the confines of their hotel and keep all noise to a minimum. 

At Amadea Resort & Villas, service on Nyepi Day will more or less remain the same. Guests will still be able to relax and enjoy quality time around the pool. However, there will be some minor adjustments in the way that our food and beverages are served. Nyepi presents the perfect opportunity to think about what truly matters in life. Without lights, the night sky will be illuminated by twinkling stars and we recommend taking a few minutes to appreciate the beauty of our universe.  

Tumpek Kandang – A Day Dedicated to Animals

Another important day coming up on Bali’s religious calendar is Tumpek Kandang on 25th March 2023. The occasion is dedicated to animals, particularly pigs, cows and livestock that are an essential source of income. Balinese farmers will carefully wash their most prized animals and conduct a small ceremony that entails a ritual blessing and specially prepared foods.

This is performed with belief that prayers and offerings will result in good health and productive breeding habits.

Amadea Cares Sponsors Operation for Little Ketut

One of the many initiatives carried out by Amadea Cares is to raise funds for life-enhancing  surgeries for those less fortunate from Bali and its neighbouring island. This is a collaborative effort with Yayasan Senyum (Bali Smile Foundation), a non-profit charity that brings essential healthcare to people with severe craniofacial disabilities.  

On 26th January 2023, Amadea Cares funded an operation for a 4 month old baby boy from Singaraja Regency by the name of I Ketut Abhisaka Widya Prasta. Ketut went for cleft operation at local hospital and we are glad to see his beautiful smile as well as the smile of his little family. 

“ We are very happy to see the smile of his family. We hope this surgery help him lead a more normal life. It was once again made possible due to the generosity of in-house guests choosing to donate to this worthy cause”, said Anik Wiryaningsih the representative from Amadea Cares.

Annual Staff Party: Bounce Back Higher

Amadea Resort & Villas hosted its 12th annual staff party on 17th February 2023 taking colorful theme. This event was held in appreciation for the hard work and dedication of all team members over the past year.  

This elegant party saw all employees dress in colorful costume and gather for a cocktail reception followed by a delicious buffet dinner. There were lots of lucky door prizes drawn throughout the evening along with entertaining stage performances by each department and fund raising to support some social care programs initiated by Amadea Cares.

This year annual staff party adopt special theme “Bounce Back Higher”. With high spirit, team work and agility everyone at Amadea has successfully gone thru difficult time and hope to bounce back higher in the year to come.

The most awaited program was the announcement of the Employee and Supervisor of the Year 2022. After the careful judging process, the winner of Employee of the Year 2022 was Mr. Agus Suryawan from Engineering Department. The award for Supervisor of the Year 2022 went to Sales & Marketing Department, Mrs Ni Putu Ria Aprilyanthi.

These two winners are familiar to many of our guests. They will go on to represent Amadea in the same event on national level competing with others hotels within the Prime Plaza Hotels and Resorts group.
