Bye Bye 2019 Welcome 2020

As 2019 draws to a close, it is time to look back and express our gratitude for another great year of business and several more awards to add to our growing collection. We have had the good fortune to serve a wonderful assortment of guests over the past 12 months. Coming from many different parts of the world they have chosen to stay with us whilst experiencing the island of Bali and all that it has to offer. Amadea has become a melting pot that unites people from all walks of life in the happening district of Seminyak.

In the hospitality industry there is always room for improvement and 2020 will see some changes to enhance the property. A number of upgrades will be taking place to help us better serve the needs of our guests.

Amadea will continue to collaborate with the Bali Smile Foundation to provide life-changing craniofacial surgeries for those in need. This charity initiative comes under the banner of Amadea Cares, a Corporate Social Responsibility program that helps disadvantaged members of the local community. To date, the generosity of our in-house guests has helped us to fund a total of 24 operations. It is heartening to know that patients who would have otherwise lived with disfiguring afflictions are now able to smile.

Our growing commitment to eco-friendly practices will be strengthened. We will be investigating how we can further reduce our carbon footprint by embracing the concept of sustainable tourism. This will involve training our team to be environmental ambassadors and coming up with innovative ways to recycle and reuse just like we have done with our old linen and pillow cases.

We look forward to welcoming both old and new guests in 2020 with updated services and facilities that will invariably take the whole Amadea experience to the next level.

Amadea Won Emerald in Tri Hita Karana Awards 2019

It is a great news to close the year, we have again won for 4th time in a row the Emerald Medal in the Tri Hita Karana Awards for managing to sustain a hospitality environment that is conducive to the Hindu religion. Tri Hita Karana is a Balinese lifestyle philosophy based on the belief that spiritual and physical wellness is achieved through a balanced existence. The awards are an annual initiative conducted to recognize local tourism related organizations that implement the religious and social values of Tri Hita Karana.

The official awards ceremony hosted at the Ksirarnawa Hall, Art Centre Denpasar, on 29 November 2019. Mr. Eka Dhewanta, our Operation Manager collected the medal on behalf of the property. He later commented, “It is indeed a great honour to receive this award for our adherence to Bali’s age-old wisdoms. This achievement will motivate us to strive for nothing less than perfection in our ongoing quest to preserve Bali’s unique cultural traditions.

Bali's Cultural Calendar

Night of Siwa – January 23

Siwaratri Day is one of the Balinese Hindu holy day which will be celebrated on 23th January 2020

Siwa Ratri often referred to as the ‘Night of Siwa’ is an auspicious time for introspection and meditation during which the Hindus of Bali pray for forgiveness of their earthy sins and for support and strength from Siwa in order to reach their higher selves.

Tumpek Wariga

Bali’s cultural calendar is a continuous cycle of ceremonies and rituals conducted to maintain balance between the realms of the physical, spiritual and unseen worlds. Tumpek Wariga is just one of many auspicious days celebrated on the island and it will fall on 25th January 2020 to honour local trees, especially the humble coconut palm. This versatile palm, alongside rice and bamboo, is considered one of the main pillars to sustain Balinese society. Every single part of the coconut palm has a use including the leaves, nuts, trunk and roots. On this day, local landowners will wrap their coconut palms in lengths of cloth and perform a small ritual by praying for healthy growth and an abundance of fruit.
