The Amadea Resort & Villas Team
Amadea Goes Green with Eco Friendly Initiatives
Guest at Amadea will easily notice several initiatives are taken to ensure that the operation of the hotel leave less impact to the surrounding nature. Each guest is invited to participate in a “Linen Card” program which basically offers guest to opt for change of bed linens every 3 days. The card is provided on the bedside table where guest can simply place it on the bed to request the Housekeeping team to change the linen. Otherwise the bed linen will be changed on the 3rd day after arrival to reduce the amount of laundry chemical we dispose to the earth.
If you wish to reuse your towels you can hang it on the towel rack. You want them changed with new one? Leave it on the vanity counter.
Other green initiatives go far beyond linen and towel. The use of air conditioned is minimized as most of the public area and corridor are open air with some ceiling fans to cool off the air. On each floor there are several “water refill station” where guest can refill their bottle to reduce the amount of waste of plastic bottle. We only use biodegradable cleaning chemical.
Water consumption is measured everyday to ensure no leakage. The waste water and sewage is sampled and send to lab for testing every month to maintain acceptable quality.
Amadea also provides electric buggy carts to transport guest within the resort and all lights in the guest rooms and public facility uses LED type which consume much less electricity.
At the restaurant 70% of food materials are sourced locally. This is not only reducing the amount carbon print but also helping the local economy. Our restaurant is open air with a lot of natural light, so it consume less energy. We also introduce reusable metal straw instead of single use plastic straw or plastic stirrer. Meal box, if necessary, is made from compostable material.
While we do all things possible to reduce the amount of waste from our operation, all waste will be collected by registered waste collector. Waste will go for separation process at the dedicated facility where recycleabe waste are collected for upcycling purpose. Other green waste such as tree leaves and garden waste is sent to composting facility which we buy back to fertilize our garden.
“We try our best to minimize our impact to the environment and make sure our future generation will live in a better world. We are pleased that our guest also take part in the mission while staying here”, says Dody Hermanta, the Chief Engineer who is also in charge as Green Champion at Amadea.
Things to Do During Rainy Days in Bali
The wet season is now upon us and the annual rains are essential for keeping the island looking green. Bali’s rainfall is tropical, which means that humidity levels are high and the temperature still remains warm. Rain on the island rarely hinders guest activities in areas of tourism and surfing, swimming and shopping can still take place even during a downfall.
The Balinese readily welcome the rain and all that it entails. Farmers enjoy a well-deserved break from working the rice fields and sit back to watch their crops grow. It is a time for the menfolk to gather at their local community hall to play cards over cups of coffee. They also practice their musical abilities on traditional instruments ready for the next ceremonial performance. In homes around the island, the skill of making offerings is passed down from mother to daughter to ensure that religious obligations are fulfilled.
Young children love to run barefoot in the rain and splash each other by jumping in puddles. Old-fashioned games of tag, hopscotch, marbles and more are still played in rural areas where afternoons are generally spent outside. The wet season in Bali also enables family members to reconnect at home and tell stories based on Hindu mythology. Spirits are always high on the island even when it is raining outdoors
Romantic Escape Package
Our Romantic Escape package is still available and entitles you and partner to stay for 3 nights in the vibrant heart of Seminyak. This exclusive offer features an array of special privileges including a Relaxing Balinese Massage at Ambiente Spa and an intimate 3-course dinner. The package extends all room categories starting from just USD 325 ++ (excluding tax and service fees) for a Deluxe Room. If you are looking to celebrate your love in true style, we recommend our Amadea Rooftop Suite for a more private experience. You can choose to stay longer as extra nights are possible or there is always the option to explore other settings with a combined trip to the romantic neighbouring island of Nusa Lembongan or the Gilis in Lombok.
Bali’s cultural calendar is a continuous cycle of ceremonies and rituals conducted to maintain balance between the realms of the physical, spiritual and unseen worlds. Tumpek Wariga is just one of many auspicious days celebrated on the island and it will fall on 10th December 2022 to honour local trees, especially the humble coconut palm. This versatile palm, alongside rice and bamboo, is considered one of the main pillars to sustain Balinese society. Every single part of the coconut palm has a use including the leaves, nuts, trunk and roots. On this day, local landowners will wrap their coconut palms in lengths of cloth and perform a small ritual by praying for healthy growth and an abundance of fruit.
Island Inspired Christmas Activities
The best part about spending the festive season on the island of Bali with family and friends is that you are not bound by tradition. There are no rules or regulations and you are free to do exactly as you please. As Bali is a predominantly Hindu enclave, most tourism related ventures remain open on Christmas Day. You can do anything from indulging in a relaxing spa treatment to navigating the white water rapids of the Ayung River or cycling through Bali's rural villages.
One of the more culturally inspiring activities that you can enjoy as a family on Christmas Day is partaking in a purification ritual in the holy waters of Tirta Empul Temple at Tampaksiring. This spiritually-charged location features a bathing pond fed by a series of fountains where the Balinese come to cleanse body, mind and spirit. An excursion to this site can be combined with lunch in a rice terrace setting at Bebek Tepi Sawah, a popular Ubud restaurant specializing in crispy fried duck.
Another great pastime is a Balinese cooking class where you will learn the secrets of local cuisine and get to take home news skills including how to prepare authentic nasi goreng. Alternatively, you might like to escape the heat and head to the cool hills of Bedugul where Bali Treetop Adventure Park has a series of zipline circuits and promises hours of family fun. Whatever you choose to do on Christmas Day, don’t forget to check in with our Guest Service Assistant to help you create the perfect holiday itinerary.
