Warm greetings from Bali – the island of the Gods!
It is always a pleasure to present the latest edition of our newsletter. This online initiative is created on a monthly basis to keep you informed about what is happening at Amadea Resort & Villas. Please read on as we bring you news about our special promotions, updated facilities and recent accolades from the vibrant heart of Seminyak.
Things are hotting up in Bali as we move into the busy months of summer. Work on the new-look airport is progressing in leaps and bounds. Upon completion this facility is expected to anticipate the needs of even more travellers with better service and heightened security standards.
And talking about peak season, don’t forget to book your summer stay at Amadea soon. There are some great added value incentives to help you make the most of your holiday in Bali with our early bird bookings.
On a different note, we are delighted to announce that we are in the final stages of creating a shower block for the exclusive use of departing guests. We understand that late night flights are often at very reasonable price but not always practical, and so we will be providing a place to shower and freshen up as opposed to booking an extra room night.
Read on for further information about our latest awards as Amadea celebrates international recognition for going green. There are also details about visiting the traditional Balinese village of Tenganan, a closed society that has shunned the trappings of modernization.
Happy reading and see you soon in Bali.

New & Improved Facilities at Amadea
Amadea Resort & Villas is continuing to improve its facilities in an effort to truly anticipate the needs of in-house guests. Due to growing demand we are currently converting our Spa Bale into a shower room facility that will incorporate two shower units. Essentially, this will be for the convenience of departing guests with late flights. Upon checking out at 11 am, guests can store their luggage at our Concierge desk and spend a leisurely afternoon doing some last minute shopping or enjoying a bite to eat in the Seminyak’s ‘eat street’ area. Then they can return to the resort to shower and freshen up at no extra charge before heading off to the airport.
This new shower block will feature two units with high pressure hot & cold water showers plus essential bathroom amenities, a vanity counter to apply make-up and a locker. Complementary towels will also be available. The facility will be complete and ready for guest use by the second week of May. The next project on Amadea’s agenda is the creation of a multi-purpose lounge located above the lobby. It will function as an all-day lounge facility and can also be utilized as a small meeting room. We’ll keep you updated in future editions of our online newsletter.

Tenganan Traditional Balinese Village
Bali is an island of great diversity and there is much more out there to be experienced than just the shops, spas and restaurants of the conventional tourism districts. For a culturally inspiring day out, visit the village of Tenganan on Bali’s eastern shoulder not far from the seaside town of Candi Dasa. This traditional village is often referred to as a living museum and is a closed community that is home to Bali’s original inhabitants.
Members of this archaic cult society adhere to their own territorial rules and religious beliefs. Outsiders are welcome during daylight hours to see how these people retain their ancient ways. The music, dance and arts of Tenganan are both rich and symbolic. The women of this village produce a unique textile called geringsing, which is woven using a difficult double ikat technique.
Other interesting highlights include a traditional style of architecture that pre-dates Bali’s Hindu culture. Visit our Front Desk to arrange a Tenganan Village tour at the best available price and enjoy a fascinating day filled with great photo opportunities.

Amadea Wins Wotif Award
Amadea Resort & Villas is the proud recipient of an award from Wotif.com, an online company that provides reservation services for hotels in Australia and Asia. This was presented in lieu of Amadea being the Best Supporter 2012 having achieved the highest number of bookings through the Wotif website during the past year. This leading site has played a significant role in helping Amadea to market its brand to Australian audiences. This award has motivated the resort to continue to improve its services and facilities and maintain its image the preferred ‘value for money’ holiday retreat in the Seminyak area.

It Feels Good to Go Green
Amadea Resort & Villas is delighted to announce that it has received its first EarthCheck Assessed certificate following an extensive evaluation carried out in 2012. Certification is issued to organizations that have passed the benchmarking process and scored highly in a benchmarking system developed by EarthCheck.org.
EarthCheck is the next generation of environmental certification and benchmarking. It is the culmination of a journey that began in 1987 and continues to this day. Using a science-based approach, it helps the travel and tourism industry increase efficiencies, maximise guest experience and minimise their environmental and social footprint. With changing regulatory environments, rapidly evolving markets and complex risk implications, organizations require specialised tools and expertise. EarthCheck helps resorts such as Amadea navigate the path forward with certainty and peace of mind.
Essentially, this benchmarking certificate acknowledges that Amadea Resort & Villas is committed to preserving the environment by applying sustainable business practices. This achievement is also parallel to our ongoing corporate social responsibility programme that focuses on giving back to the local community and assisting those in need.
