Warm greetings from Bali – the island of the Gods!
It is a pleasure to present the June edition of our online newsletter. This monthly initiative is filled with information about all the latest news, events and special promotions from Amadea Resort & Villas in the ‘hip and happening’ lifestyle district of Seminyak.
The laid back months of summer are a great time to visit Bali - whether it’s for a romantic getaway, family holiday or even to conduct a spot of business. The seasonal winds are currently blowing up from Australia and cooling the entire island with a refreshing sea breeze. The skies are filled with colourful kites and school children are on their annual break. Bali’s streets are buzzing with activity and the mood is all about relaxation.
Amadea recently celebrated its 1st anniversary with an array of staff activities and socially inspired initiatives that included making a donation to a local orphanage. And thanks to the loyal support of our guests over the past year we were also awarded a Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor.
The island’s ongoing cultural calendar currently includes the Bali Arts Festival, which is a month-long celebration of traditional dance, music, drama, handicrafts and cuisine. This event will run until the 9th July 2012 and promises visitors a unique insight into the very best that Bali has to offer.
In this edition we take a look at Bali Coffee and the world’s most expensive blend, Coffee Luwak. We also share information about the popular scuba diving sites where Bali’s rich underwater ecosystem can be experienced.
Happy reading and we hope to see you in Bali very soon.

Amadea Receives Certificate of Excellent from TripAdvisor
To coincide with our 1st anniversary we were
given even more reason to celebrate when we
were recently awarded a prestigious ‘Certificate
of Excellence 2012’ from TripAdvisor. Guests
consistently commended Amadea Resort & Villas
on TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel forum,
and this was duly recognized with an award for
having achieved a 4 point rating status. This
acknowledgement was totally unexpected and is
quite an accomplishment for such a relatively
new property in Bali.
Commenting on the award as well as successfully completing the first year of operations, General Manager, Mr. Wayan Warta said, “We would like to thank our guests for choosing to stay at Amadea and allowing us to be of service. We have received lots of helpful feedback over the past year, all of which has been taken into careful consideration and enabled us to improve on our existing standards. This in turn has been rewarded by a loyal customer base and countless return bookings. I strongly believe that our dedicated team is Amadea’s finest asset and it makes me proud to hear comments regarding just how much guests appreciate our genuine hospitality. We are all excited with these positive results and will continue to deliver top quality service well into the future.”

Bali Coffee ~ A Taste Like No Other!
Authentic Bali Coffee is made from high grade beans cultivated in elevated areas of the island such as Kintamani, Pupuan and Munduk. The combination of rich volcanic soil and a cool climate provides the perfect growing conditions to produce both Arabica and Robusta coffee beans. Bali Coffee has a distinct aroma and is smooth to drink with a nutty aftertaste. It is served in all reputable restaurants and cafes on the island and is readily available in sealed packages from local supermarkets for travellers to take home as a flavoursome souvenir. Even the international coffee giant Starbucks has Bali Coffee on its menu!
Another blend that is unique to Indonesia is Coffee Luwak, which is also known as civet coffee. It is touted as the world’s most expensive type of coffee and is made from the beans of coffee berries that pass through the digestive tract of the Asian Palm Civet. Coffee Luwuk has a thick texture and strong flavour that varies in accordance to the dietary conditions of the civets. This extraordinary blend can be sampled at any of Bali’s agro-tourism plantations or cafe’s such as Kopi Bali in Sanur that specialises exclusively in fresh roasted coffee.

Strengthening PRIME Commitment
Amadea’s 1st anniversary was celebrated with all team members participating in a series of events. There were activities designed to boost team spirit, give back to the local community and help those in need. The main focus during the past month was to strengthen our commitment to the newly launched corporate culture known as PRIME - People Responsible Individually for Managing Excellence.
The first event was a blood donation campaign hosted in conjunction with the Bali division of the Red Cross. More than 20 staff members generously participated and we hope that this small deed was able to help local hospitals carry out life saving blood transfusions. A few days later a team of 30 joined forces to take part in a cleaning blitz on the nearby Petitenget Beach in an effort to remove plastic and other rubbish from the area.
Additionally, a delegation representing Amadea Cares, our very own Corporate Social Responsibility program, visited the Sanatana Dharma orphanage in the village of Melaya in west Bali to make a donation. This non-profit facility is managed by Bapak Sudiarta, a local teacher who cares for 42 children from impoverished families in the surrounding area.
Next was an outbound team building activity to
strengthen the relationship between Amadea’s
various departments. Staff members were divided
into two groups to play a series of tactical
paintball games in the village of Bongkasa on the
outskirts of Ubud.
The anniversary celebrations came to an end with a staff party hosted at a local restaurant
This gathering was a time to reward everyone for
a job well done and reflect on the success of
overcoming the challenges of the first year of operations. It has been a busy 12 months for the
entire team with many new initiatives including
carrying out staff training and implementing tools
and measures to ensure that the PRIME culture
becomes a reality.
